It is very seldom that MINOR injuries in a car versus truck crash are reported as evidenced by this news item.
An Oak Harbor woman was flown to Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center in Toledo with serious injuries following a car versus truck crash Tuesday afternoon in Portage Township.
According to Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers, Ashley Tennant, 24, of Oak Harbor, was headed north on Ohio 53 at about 3 p.m. when she was struck by an International box truck headed west on Ohio 163.
Troopers are still trying to determine if Tennant was attempting to turn left onto Ohio 163, or if she was planning to continue north on Ohio 53.
The markings at the crash scene made it difficult to determine her intended direction of travel, troopers said.
Tennant suffered serious injuries and was unconscious when rescue crews arrived. As of late Tuesday her condition at the hospital was not available.
The driver of the truck, Brian O’Neill, 51, of North Baltimore, was not injured.
Troopers are still investigating, but they suspect Tennant was at fault in the crash. There’s no indication alochol was a factor.
