January Newsletter TEXTING WHILE DRIVING

You love your family. You would never intentionally cause them harm, would you?
The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) is considering a total ban on texting while driving. Survey numbers show the majority of people believe that it is dangerous to text while driving. But they feel they are not dangerous when they text and drive. Human nature is funny – sometimes deadly.
After the press release I read all the comments in response. They spoke of other driver distractions like talking on a cell phone, eating, brushing hair, applying makeup, etc. – they questioned, “Why aren’t these banned?” The answer is – they are all distractions. All are dangerous. The fact is that texting has become more prevalent and often times, deadly driving distraction.
How dangerous is texting? Well I could cite statistics, numbers of death and injury related accidents, but more importantly the only number necessary for you to consider is one – the one that happens to you, or to your family.
